Insulation Services
Along with our conditioned and encapsulated
crawl space services for mold remediation and energy conservation, we can
also greatly increase the energy efficiency of your home with our insulation
services.
Most homes have insulation in the attic and even newer homes have blown-in
insulation. But, what most homeowners do not know is that their attic
insulation has settled and is allowing money in heating and cooling bills to be
wasted right above their own heads. The EPA recommends at least an R value
of 30 in the southeast US and suggests up to 49. The average home only as
19 or less.

We are an authorized TAP insulation installer. This special Energy Star
rated cellulose insulation can keep your home warmer in the winter, cooler in
the summer, greatly reduce natural gas and electric usage, while reducing
spiders, silverfish, and many other pests in the attic. TAP insulation is
the only product that conserves energy AND provides pest control at the same
time. Many customers report a reduction in noise from aircraft above the
house or even the neighbor mowing their yard.
We can also replace saturated, moldy, and even missing insulation under your
home.

FAQs
- Why would a pest management
company offer insulation?
-Since
pest management professionals already work under houses and in attics to reduce
pests and moisture conditions, we can easily provide value-added services to
improve the environment underneath, inside, and outside of your home. TAP
insulation IS pest control due to borate compounds found in the insulation
material. Peeler Environmental is a licensed pest management firm meeting
EPA requirements for installing pest control insulation. We often must
remove contaminated insulation due to wildlife/pest infestation, so it is a part
of our service to offer replacement of such insulation.
- Is borate safe?
-Borate is
a reduced-risk active ingredient for pest control. Borate has the
potential hazard of a spoon of table salt. Borate is a naturally occurring
mineral that simply reduces an insect's ability to hold water.
Furthermore, the product is applied to the attic and behind walls where exposure
to people and pets is very limited.
- I heard that stuff is made from
paper, isn't that bad for the environment?
-Cellulose
material comes from plants, as does paper. However, this product does not
come from cutting down trees, but from recycling old newspaper, magazines, phone
books, coupons, and even expired currency. TAP insulation conserves
landfill space. This is a very eco-friendly product.
- Can I get a tax credit for having
this insulation installed?
- Yes!
The plan varies from year to year, but the IRS will give you a tax credit for
installing this energy conserving product.
- Why not just have more fiberglass
insulation blown into my attic?
-We can
demonstrate this for you in person if you wish, but due to the density of
cellulose insulation, it allows far less heat to pass through it. This
keeps solar energy out of your home during the summer and keeps heated air
inside your home during the winter.
- Why not have plain cellulose
material installed by an insulation company?
- If you
are going to invest in such a product, why not choose one that will provide pest
control at the same time for the same price.
- I think I will call a company that
only specializes in insulation.
- If
you don't choose us, we encourage to find someone to help you conserve energy
and save money, it is good for the environment and good for your household
budget. But general insulation contractors are not licensed to offer this
product to you. AND, we have on staff, an experienced pest management
professional who previously ran an insulation company.

Is cellulose a fire hazard? |
|
| |
Most houses are cellulose
(made from wood and forest products). T·A·P contains a fire-retardant
chemical that actually makes homes safer in case of fire. Ordinary
fiberglass insulation can melt, creating a chimney-like effect in a
wall. T·A·P, with its fire-retardant characteristics, forms a charred
surface barrier which limits the spread of fire. |
